Jurassic era marine fossils of the oyster Buchea and of Belamnites (nautiloid) can be picked out of Fossil Creek on the flank of Church Mountain. Go up East Church Mtn Road to where Fossil Creek goes over the road on a concrete slab. The gravel road is east of the Douglas Fir campground and just east of where Fossil Creek goes under the Mt. Baker Highway. Check the Forest Service website for road condition.
