The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by President Candi Gerard at Bellis Fair Mall, Space 424.\u00a0 In attendance: \u00a0Deb and Wes Gannaway, Ralph Sisco, Bonnie Keel, Gordy Gerard, Michael Langley, Sharon Geleynse, Todd Folsom, and Linda Mitchell. \u00a0\u00a0Masks were worn by all.<\/p>\n
Secretary’s Report:<\/strong>\u00a0 The minutes of the last meeting on September 7, 2021, were approved.\u00a0<\/p>\n Treasurer\u2019s Report:<\/strong>\u00a0 Questions on paperwork at the mall store were answered.\u00a0 Deb reported on the income and bills.<\/p>\n Membership:\u00a0 <\/strong>No report.<\/p>\n Federation:\u00a0 <\/strong>No report.<\/p>\n Wagonmaster (Field Trip) Report:\u00a0 <\/strong>There are no field trips scheduled.\u00a0 We need a volunteer to help plan field trips for the club.\u00a0 The club members can always attend the Washington State Mineral Council field trips.\u00a0 There is a link on the club\u2019s website for the Mineral Council.\u00a0<\/p>\n Washington State Mineral Council (WSMC): \u00a0<\/strong>On October 16, a field trip is scheduled for Money Creek for picture jasper.\u00a0 On November 13, the field trip is to Blanchard Mt for Stilpnomelane.\u00a0 Meet at the Gas Mart, I-5 Exit 240 at 9:00 am.\u00a0 This is in our local area.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Lapidary Report:\u00a0 <\/strong>The lapidary room is open for members on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm.\u00a0 Members must sign up and prepay $10.\u00a0 If no one prepays, it will be closed.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Old Business:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>White Elephant Auction: <\/em>\u00a0We will set up at 5:30 pm.\u00a0 Donations of rocks and rock hobby related items should be brought the night of the auction.\u00a0 We will have a cake for a member that will be turning 100 years old this month, as well as his 74th<\/sup> Wedding Anniversary.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Election: <\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>It is time for the election of officers.\u00a0 We are asking members for nominations for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Federation, Wagonmaster, and Directors at Large.\u00a0 If you are interested, please contact any board member.\u00a0 As of this date, we have not received any nominations.<\/p>\n Mall Store Chairperson:<\/em>\u00a0 <\/strong>Ralph Sisco has volunteered.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>New Business:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Equipment:<\/em>\u00a0 There was discussion on getting a camera to hook up to a projector for show and tell.\u00a0 We currently have an ELMO overhead projector and laptop but are having problems getting it set up.\u00a0 If we cannot get ELMO to work, we will look into purchasing a camera and projector.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Volunteers:<\/em>\u00a0 Volunteers are needed for Wagonmaster (Field Trips), Librarian, Mall Store Helper, and Rockhound Rendezvous (RR) coordinator.\u00a0 If we do not get any volunteers, we will no longer have these activities\/events until someone volunteers.<\/p>\n Vests:<\/em>\u00a0 We will check into getting vests that members can purchase.\u00a0 More information forthcoming.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Life Membership:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>A recommendation for a life membership was considered.\u00a0 In the club\u2019s by-laws, the life membership will be presented to the membership for a final vote.<\/p>\n Annual Dues:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>Annual dues are due in the month of October.\u00a0 Members will be notified by email and on Facebook.<\/p>\n Scholarship:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>Todd Folsom will check with WWU about the scholarship the club gives to a geology student.\u00a0 The scholarship will be presented on the last day of our show in March 2022.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>The next Board Meeting is on November 1, 2021, 6:00 pm, at <\/strong>Bellis Fair Mall, Space 424.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n Meeting adjourned at 7:05 pm,\u00a0 Respectfully submitted by Linda Mitchell<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u00a0 The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by President Candi Gerard at Bellis Fair Mall, Space 424.\u00a0 In attendance: \u00a0Deb and Wes Gannaway, Ralph Sisco, Bonnie Keel, Gordy Gerard, Michael Langley, Sharon Geleynse, Todd Folsom, and Linda Mitchell. \u00a0\u00a0Masks were worn by all.
