{"id":674,"date":"2021-12-23T12:26:45","date_gmt":"2021-12-23T20:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mtbakerrockclub.org\/?p=674"},"modified":"2023-01-03T18:58:49","modified_gmt":"2023-01-04T02:58:49","slug":"general-meeting-minutes-on-december-20-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mtbakerrockclub.org\/?p=674","title":{"rendered":"General Meeting Minutes on December 20, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President Candi Gerard called the meeting to order at 7 pm, at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale.\u00a0 Candi welcomed everyone to the meeting.\u00a0 Masks were worn by all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secretary:\u00a0 <\/strong>The minutes are approved from the October 18, 2021, General Meeting.\u00a0 The November 15, 2021, meeting was cancelled due to flooding.\u00a0 There is a flyer for members to take for the Everett Rock &amp; Gem Club, May 28 and 29, 2022, at the Monroe Fairgrounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tr<\/strong><strong>easurer:<\/strong>\u00a0 The treasurer provided a report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership:<\/strong>\u00a0 There are approximately 180 families signed up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Federation:<\/strong>\u00a0 Michael reported that next year\u2019s date for the show and meeting has not been reported yet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Washington State Mineral Council (WSMC):\u00a0 <\/strong>Next year\u2019s field trips should begin in April.\u00a0 Note:\u00a0 Club members can join in these field trips.\u00a0 The link is:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mineralcouncil.files.wordpress.com\/2021\/04\/2021-rock-activities.pdf\">2021-rock-activities.pdf (wordpress.com)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wagonmaster:\u00a0 <\/strong>A volunteer or committee is still needed to start planning field trips next spring.\u00a0 Contact any board member for more information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lapidary:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Lapidary Room is closed the rest of December.\u00a0 It will be open again in January 2022 on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Show 2022:\u00a0 <\/strong>The next show is March 26-27, 2022, Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale.\u00a0 The room is scheduled.\u00a0 The ads are coming out in the different rock publications.\u00a0 Ads for our local area will be out soon.\u00a0 If anyone knows of a food truck, please let Wes or Bonnie know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Old Business:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Election:\u00a0 <\/strong>The election should have taken place during the November meeting, but this meeting was cancelled due to flooding.\u00a0 The members were asked for nominations from the floor.\u00a0 No one responded.\u00a0 A motion was made to retain the current board members.\u00a0 The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.\u00a0 Next year, members must step up to volunteer for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Federation, Wagonmaster, and Directors at Large.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Business:<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: revert;\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Todd Folsom has volunteered to be the Librarian.\u00a0 Todd reported that there are books available on cutting cabs, general geology, and other related topics.\u00a0 Members can check out books during the meeting.\u00a0 The books are to be returned during the next meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Candi gave Deb Gannaway a big \u201cThank You\u201d for being the Treasurer.\u00a0 She has done the job for many years.\u00a0 We need a volunteer to step up.\u00a0 Also, the Lapidary Room would not have happened and be maintained if it were not for Rick Barrett and Glenn Ishihara.\u00a0 Thank you, Rick and Glenn.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Glenn gave a report on a Rock Tumbling class he will be instructing at the Jansen Art Center in Lynden on January 19, 2022, 6:00-7:30 pm.\u00a0 You must contact the Jansen Art Center for information and sign up.\u00a0 There will be a Rock Tumbling class in March also at the Jansen Art Center.\u00a0 Link:\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jansenartcenter.org\">www.jansenartcenter.org<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bellis Fair store is now selling grit for rock tumbling.\u00a0 Thank you, Glenn.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are needed to help at the Bellis Mall store.\u00a0 You would be a helper to an experienced volunteer at the mall store to greet customers, sell items, and watch for theft.\u00a0 You will learn a lot about rocks!<\/p>\n<p>There will be a Wire Wrapping class in January.\u00a0 For more information and sign up, please go to the Bellis Fair store.<\/p>\n<p>Two Lifetime Memberships were announced for their service to the club: (1) Rick Barrett and (2) Dick and Kay Carr.\u00a0 Certificates will be presented at a future date.\u00a0 Lifetime memberships are given to members 70 years of age or more, a member for 10 years, and has substantially served the club.<\/p>\n<p>There is a basket of goodies at the front desk for all to come get one.\u00a0 Happy Holidays.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Break<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We had the holiday gift exchange for those members that participated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Show and Tell:<\/strong> \u00a0Members brought one of their favorite rocks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next General Meeting:\u00a0 <\/strong>January 21, 7:00 pm, at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale<\/p>\n<p><strong>January Show and Tell: <\/strong>\u201cRed\u201d rocks and minerals<\/p>\n<p>Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm<\/p>\n<p>Respectfully submitted by Linda Mitchell<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Candi Gerard called the meeting to order at 7 pm, at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale.\u00a0 Candi welcomed everyone to the meeting.\u00a0 Masks were worn by all.
