{"id":703,"date":"2022-03-11T14:14:13","date_gmt":"2022-03-11T22:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mtbakerrockclub.org\/?p=703"},"modified":"2023-01-03T18:58:10","modified_gmt":"2023-01-04T02:58:10","slug":"general-meeting-minutes-on-february-21-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mtbakerrockclub.org\/?p=703","title":{"rendered":"General Meeting Minutes on February 21, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President Candi Gerard called the meeting to order at 7 pm, at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale.\u00a0 Candi welcomed everyone to the meeting.\u00a0 Masks were worn by all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secretary:\u00a0 <\/strong>The minutes are approved from the January 17, 2021, General Meeting.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0There is a flyer for members to take for the Mt. Baker Rock and Gem Club Show on March 26<sup>th<\/sup>-27<sup>th<\/sup>, Saturday 10-6, Sunday 10-5, at Pioneer Pavilion Community Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tr<\/strong><strong>easurer:<\/strong>\u00a0 The treasurer provided a report.\u00a0 Club\u2019s store at the mall now has tumbling books available for purchase.\u00a0 Raffle tickets are now available for $1 each, drawing will be done at the March show.\u00a0 Prizes are $100 cash, rock tools, a gift certificate to the club\u2019s store at the mall, and other treasures!<\/p>\n<p>Treasurer asked for a volunteer for audit committee to audit the books.\u00a0 Robin Hitz volunteered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Wes: We had approximately 165 families at the end of the year as members.\u00a0 This is a record number for the club.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Federation:<\/strong>\u00a0 Michael reported that the Federation Show will be Sept 30-Oct 2 in Hillsborough, OR.\u00a0 Wes says the Federation Show schedule is also posted at the club\u2019s mall store.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Washington State Mineral Council (WSMC): <\/strong>\u00a0Michael said field trip at Grandy Creek is this coming Saturday, by Baker Lake.\u00a0 Jade and serpentine can be found there.\u00a0 March 19<sup>th<\/sup>, Saddle Mountain in Eastern WA (close to Yakima)- fossilized wood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wagonmaster:\u00a0 <\/strong>No report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lapidary:<\/strong>\u00a0 The room is open from 6-9 Thursday night, cost is $10.00.\u00a0 If this is your first time, please let us know.\u00a0 There is a fee for cuts after the first cut.\u00a0 If there is a rock that needs to be cut, you can leave it at the mall and someone can cut it for you.\u00a0 Maximum size for a cut is about 7 inches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There is a list for the \u201cOrientation\u201d class for the use of the lapidary room.\u00a0 As soon as Glen returns at end of the month, he and Candi will review the list and see how soon everyone on the list can get trained.<\/p>\n<p>You can stop by and get a short tour anytime the room is open.\u00a0 Our store is near the JC Penny wing of Bellis Fair Mall. \u00a0Store is open every day except Monday.\u00a0 Rocks, shells, jewelry, fossils, gifts, and treasures are available.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Show 2022:\u00a0 <\/strong>The next show is March 26-27, 2022, Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale.\u00a0 Sign-up sheet was passed around for volunteers to work during the show as well as to volunteer to load up the display cases from Candi and Gordy\u2019s home to the show site starting 9 am on Friday, March 25<sup>th<\/sup>, and moving all the display cases back to Candi and Gordy\u2019s starting 5 pm on Sunday March 27<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are 30 display cases that Wes says the members can display their collections, or things that they have made.\u00a0 Sign-up for use of the display cases was also passed around.<\/p>\n<p>Need about 350 pounds of polished rocks to use for the Rock Show<\/p>\n<p><strong>Old Business: \u00a0<\/strong>No report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Business: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Gem Class:<\/strong>\u00a0 Candi will be having her two-part Gem class at her store\/home in Ferndale Feb 23<sup>rd<\/sup> and March 2<sup>nd<\/sup> from 6:30-9 pm.\u00a0 Cost $40.00.\u00a0 There are still a couple of spots open if anyone wants to sign up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rockhound Rendezvous:\u00a0 <\/strong>June 11<sup>th<\/sup> at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center.\u00a0 Everyone has their own table to sell items to other members or the public.\u00a0 $20 per 8-10 ft space.\u00a0 If you are interested, there is a sign-up sheet.\u00a0 It will be at the Ferndale Pavilion and Sharon Gelenyse is in charge of this.\u00a0 You have to bring your own tables.\u00a0 More information is coming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Break<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Show and Tell:<\/strong> \u00a0Members brought their favorite conglomerate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next General Meeting:\u00a0 <\/strong>March 21, 7:00 pm, at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale<\/p>\n<p><strong>MARCH Show and Tell: \u00a0\u00a0Green Rocks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm<\/p>\n<p>Respectfully submitted by Robin Hitz<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Candi Gerard called the meeting to order at 7 pm, at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center, 2007 Cherry St, Ferndale.\u00a0 Candi welcomed everyone to the meeting.\u00a0 Masks were worn by all.
